Concert 2024

Dress Rehearsal Schedule - 17th November Simply Ballet Studios

Attendance at Dress Rehearsal is compulsory

You must arrive 30 minutes PRIOR to your rehearsal time to be allocated your costume and get changed.

  • All students will need to change out of costume after their last Dress Rehearsal, please allow time for this.
  • Students should arrive in their ballet tights and leotard, with a button/zip jacket that does not need to be removed over their head.
  • No parents are able to be in the studio due the number of people already onsite. Staff will be on hand to assist students with changing into costume.
  • Hair should be in a high bun for all participants – Video Tutorial here
  • Make-up is not required for dress rehearsal, however you may use the opportunity to practice if you wish.
  • Remember, carparking space is limited. You may wish to consider car-pooling with another student, or street parking is available on Koongarra Ave, Cranbrooke Ave, and Glen Stuart Rd.

Please note – You may have more than one rehearsal time.

All classes from Grade 1 upwards are required to attend their item rehearsal, and a Finale Rehearsal.  Your class will be listed next to one of the Finale Rehearsals.

In 2024 due to the large numbers, preschool division students are not required to stay for Finale Rehearsal and will complete this in class time.

Tickets

This is without doubt the highlight of our year and we are giddy with excitement to show you how hard our dancers have been working!

Below you’ll find lots of information about the concert and how to register.  Be sure to read through everything before submitting your participation form.

Raymonda (Simply Ballet Style!)

Act 1 – At Chateau Raymonda

The Courtiers are celebrating the anniversary of Raymonda’s birthday, a princess who lived many years ago at the Chateau. The princesses dance, showing off their splendour and skills.

Heralds arrive from the nearby city of Castle Abderakhman announcing a festival. The Queen declares they cannot possibly go, because the two cities are enemies from long ago. The Heralds eagerly try to convince them to please come and celebrate with them.  Pages bearing gifts present peace offerings of sweets and entertainment.  The Heralds leave their gifts, but the Queen still refuses to attend the festival.

Act 2 – The Princesses’ Chamber

The princesses are very sad about not going to the festival. The musician tries to cheer them up but to no avail – nothing brightens them, and the princesses fall asleep sad.

While they sleep, the Spirits of Peace come to them in a dream and persuade them to make amends with their neighbours in Abderakhman.  They wake, having made up their minds they will go and attend the festival and make friends with the people of Castle Abderakhman.

Where will the Concert be held?

The Concert will be held at

Richard Flynn Theatre, St. Ignatius College.

2 Manresa St, Athlestone 5076

Are there extra classes or rehearsals?

Yes.

There will be two extra rehearsals which all participants must attend.

Sunday 17th November– All participants Dress Rehearsal (Simply Ballet studio)

Sunday 24th November – All participants Theatre Induction and Onstage rehearsal (Richard Flynn Theatre) All rehearsals to be scheduled between 9:00am-5:30pm. Most students will likely only be required for a short period, however students in multiple pieces will be required for longer periods.

Attendance at these two rehearsals is compulsory for all participants, particularly the Theatre Induction and Onstage Rehearsal at the Theatre. Theatres are working environments and involve many moving parts and the Theatre Induction is mandatory for all participants for safety reasons.

Students must also maintain regular attendance at classes to learn and rehearse performance pieces. If regular class attendance cannot be maintained, a student may need to be withdrawn from part, or all of a performance piece to allow rehearsals to continue in their absence.

Each class will be given the opportunity to learn at least one performance piece, and be involved in the show’s finale. Some classes may be combined to produce a singular performance piece if required.

Can I keep my costume?

Yes!

Your Concert Participation Fee includes 1 x costume which is yours to keep.

If further accessories or headdresses are required, hire of these is included in your participation fee but items must be returned.

How do I get tickets to the show?

Tickets are sold on a ‘first-in, first-served’ basis through the booking website.

Further details and a booking link will be released closer to the concert date.

What about photos or videos?

A photographer will be covering the concert and pictures will be available to download after the event for all participants.
