Attendance at Dress Rehearsal is compulsory

You must arrive 30 minutes PRIOR to your rehearsal time to be allocated your costume and get changed.

  • All students will need to change out of costume after their last Dress Rehearsal, please allow time for this.
  • Students should arrive in their ballet tights and leotard, with a button/zip jacket that does not need to be removed over their head.
  • No parents are able to be in the studio due the number of people already onsite. Staff will be on hand to assist students with changing into costume.
  • Hair should be in a high bun for all participants – Video Tutorial here
  • Make-up is not required for dress rehearsal, however you may use the opportunity to practice if you wish.

Paquita

Act 1 – The Village of Paquita

There is a legend of a lady named Paquita who lived in the village long ago.  She discovered she was of noble birth and married a Prince from a city far away.

For many years, part of a Royal Crest has hung in the village square, but no-one knows where the other half is. Every year the villagers gather for a celebration to remember the legend of Paquita.

During the celebration, a group of Courtiers arrive and recognise the Royal Crest.

Realising they possess the other half of the crest in their Court, the Courtiers invite the villagers to return with them.

Act 2 – The Forbidden Forest

The villagers accompany the Courtiers back to their lands, but they must journey through the forbidden forest….

The Courtiers lead the way, but along the path the groups become separated.

Lost in the forbidden forest, the villagers fear they will never escape.  Until, when all hope appears lost the Courtiers return with reinforcements to rescue them.

Act 3 – The Royal Court

As the townspeople and Courtiers compare the crests they possess, they discover that each group has been safeguarding half of the Royal Crest without realising it.

When the pieces are brought together, they form the complete symbol of the Kingdom and the villagers and the Courtiers celebrate together.

Concert FAQ's

When will the Concert be held?

The Concert will be held on Sunday 29th November 2026

Where will the Concert be held?

The Concert will be held at

Richard Flynn Theatre, St. Ignatius College.

2 Manresa St, Athlestone 5076

Are there extra rehearsals?

Yes.

There will be two extra rehearsals which all participants must attend.  You must be available to attend any time on both dates as rehearsals cannot be scheduled around other events.

Sunday 22nd November – All participants Dress Rehearsal (Simply Ballet studio)

Sunday 29th November – All participants Theatre Induction and Onstage rehearsal (Richard Flynn Theatre). All rehearsals to be scheduled between 8:30am-5:30pm. Most students will likely only be required for a short period, however students in multiple pieces will be required for longer periods.

Attendance at these two rehearsals is compulsory for all participants, particularly the Theatre Induction and Onstage Rehearsal at the Theatre. Theatres are working environments and involve many moving parts and the Theatre Induction is mandatory for all participants for safety reasons.

Students must also maintain regular attendance at classes to learn and rehearse performance pieces. If regular class attendance cannot be maintained, a student may need to be withdrawn from part, or all of a performance piece to allow rehearsals to continue in their absence.

Each class will be given the opportunity to learn at least one performance piece, and be involved in the show’s finale. Some classes may be combined to produce a singular performance piece if required.

Can I keep my costume?

Yes!

Your Concert Participation Fee includes 1 x costume which is yours to keep.

If a headdresses is required, hire of this is included in your participation fee but items must be returned.

How do I get tickets to the show?

Tickets are sold on a ‘first-in, first-served’ basis through the booking website.

Further details and a booking link will be released closer to the concert date.

Seating is unallocated so you can sit with your family or group.

Can I help my child backstage?

For the safety, security, and smooth running of the concert, parents and caregivers are not permitted backstage at any time.

Your child must be capable of being backstage for a period of 2-3 hours.

Rest assured, all students under 18 are fully supervised by our experienced and authorised staff, who hold current Working with Children Checks and operate under our Child Safe Policy. Our team will assist your child with costume changes, hair, makeup and toileting.

We understand it can be a big step, especially for younger performers, but our staff are caring and supportive, and creating independence backstage is part of the performance journey!

You can read more in our article “My First Concert”

What about photos or videos?

A photographer will be covering the concert and pictures will be available to download after the event for all participants.

Unfortunately, due to child safety regulations there can be no other photography or video taken inside the Theatre – including of your own child.

We will be offering a live video stream of the performance so that family and friends in other locations can be part of the experience.

You will be provided with a link 24 hours before the show that will be valid for the live event, and for 90 days afterwards. This means you can re-watch and share the concert with everyone!
